xr6 security issues

Post by Klaus on Sat Mar 06, 2010 9:09 pm

Can anyone help me? I have a got a security problem with the radio and starting the engine.
If I use the radio (try to tune in a station or use the CD) and then try to start the engine it won't start unless I get out of the car lock the doors using the remote and then wait ten secs and then unlock the doors using the remote and then start the engine normally.
Is it to do with an anti-theft feature of the xr6?
Its not a problem per say just annoying being stranded at the servo and having cars waiting behind me.
I have only owned this car for about 4 weeks and today was the first time I have taken it out on the road so I am still coming to grips with the beast.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery mate, it might reset it, like pulling the cord on the Sky decoder when it shits itself??.

If I do not play with the radio the engine starts ok. The battery has been replaced quite recently and the only time I get a prob with the engine is when I try to tune the radio.

The radios in these cars are security coded. If you take it to your Ford dealer he should be able to look up the code for you and unlock it.

Thank you for that. Tonight I opened the car using the remote and the engine started OK. I then switched the engine off and locked the car using the remote. I did this sequence twice and the engine started ok both times, so I will contact the ford dealership and try for the sec code for the radio on Monday.

Try holding your mouth to the right and rubbing your tummy with your left hand too next time and see if that works. Smile

Did you get the problem sorted mate??
