Sticking Throttle

Post by Stampy on Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:06 am

Hey Guy's, My 03 XR8 has a terrible case of the sticky throttle blue's, and being a 5spd it makes it even worse, is this a simple reflash/tune fix or has the FBW thrown a wobbly. Any advise greatly appreciated.

My guess would be to check the TPS, but if you don't have a spare one lying around it's gonna be a bit difficult to do. I would get it to your nearest Ford dealer so they can plug their computer into it and should be able to tell you straight away what's wrong. There may be a small fee to do this but heaps faster and probably cheaper too, than going down the "swaping random parts" path in the hope one of them will fix it...

Is Your XR8 an early BA one or the AU3 one mate??

Just asking cos the BA's have the "Fly By Wire" throttle and the AU's still had the cable.

Yeah my one completely shit itself one day, had to get a brand new one, but the warranty covered it.
